While driving down Broadway, an air stream trailer caught our eyes at 2202 Broadway near the now infamous Spurs wall art. We stopped by to enjoy a filling and healthy lunch at Rise Up – a raw, vegan and organic food truck. Rise Up features smoothies, acai bowls, pitaya bowls, and we’re completely obsessed with all the goodness!
Rise Up opened its windows on April 20th of this year with a mission to spread health. After glancing through the menu, I had absolutely no idea what to order! Don’t worry if you feel this way too, Libby from Rise Up will help you find exactly what your body is craving.
First up, the field roast veggie dog with your choice of mustard, spicy mustard, ketchup, vegan cheese and/or hemp seeds. We got it all, including avocado and the Rise Up sauce which is a spinach and blueberry combination. I don’t believe I’ve ever eaten a hot dog so quickly and for only $3.50, you can order two and your wallet and stomach won’t be upset with you!
Jacqueline ordered the Pitaya Candy bowl featuring pitaya (dragon fruit), banana, pineapple, honey and apple juice topped with granola, blueberries, banana and raw honey. The bright fuchsia color of the pitaya bowl was unreal. Definitely an amazing alternative to ice cream!
After the veggie dog disappeared, I took my first spoonful of the chocolate acai bowl – acai, almond milk, almond butter, cacao, strawberries, agave and blueberries topped with granola, blueberries, strawberries, chia, cacao nibs and coconuts. The 16 oz. bowl of deliciousness was intimidating and I silently knew that I was not going to finish all of it. Fast forward to 15 or so minutes later and Jacqueline and I are both throwing away our empty bowls. The chocolate acai bowl comes with granola throughout the entire bowl and the crunch was perfect.
Before arriving at Rise Up, I was craving chocolate and was ready to devour a chocolate milkshake that would’ve left me sleepy for the rest of the day. As I sit here with a happy mind and stomach, I know I made the right choice. Rise Up also features smoothies, kombucha, cold-pressed juice and more. Visit the delicious airstream trailer Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
