October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many local businesses are going pink to show their support. One in eight women will develop breast cancer and while often less talked about, men are also susceptible to the disease. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, “On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.” With so many people touched by the disease, here are 5 local businesses to visit during October that will donate profits and items to foundations for breast cancer patients, survivors, and families.

Blue Box

Toast to all the brave women and men who have been affected by breast cancer. Blue Box pours up The Pink Ribbon cocktail with Partida Reposado Tequila, grapefruit, lime, simple syrup and grenadine. A portion of proceeds will contribute to Edrington Americas’ donation to Susan G. Komen.

Bird Bakery

Through October 14, Bird Bakery’s cupcake for a cause will benefit the Susan G. Komen San Antonio. Choose the Pink Ribbon cupcake and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the national, non-profit organization.

Kendra Scott

Shop the Yellow for Pink Breast Cancer Awareness collection and 20% of each sale benefits Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Along with this, for every piece of jewelry purchased one will be given to a woman affected by cancer.

La Panadería

With two locations, one in downtown and Alamo Heights, La Panadería offers a Pink Croissant for the month of October. This sweet treat is topped with pink chocolate in honor of the owners’ mother who battled breast cancer. $1 from each pastry will be donated to Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation to support locals.

Taco Cabana

Gather your friends for a happy hour that gives back because it’s a pink party all month long at Taco Cabana. For every Pink Sangria, Loaded Queso, or Jalapeño sampler sold, Taco Cabana will donate $1 to Susan G. Komen.
