With All Hallow’s Eve upon us, the city is gearing up for a zombie apocalypse, well downtown San Antonio is. We’ve been celebrating Halloween all month long, but this weekend is exciting because the countdown has almost arrived the the 31st. Check out our compiled list of some of our favorite events coming up this weekend.
San Antonio Zombie Walk
Drench your face in fake blood, tear up your favorite shirt and meet your fellow zombies at the Tower of the Americas, located at 739 E César E. Chávez Blvd., for this years Zombie Walk. The walk will take place this Sunday, October 25th at 5 p.m. No money required, just blood, lots of blood.
MuertosFest
La Villita, located at 418 Villita St., is hosting a two-day Día de Los Muertos Celebration this Saturday and Sunday. Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday focused on gatherings of family and friends to remember those who have passed. MuertosFest is free of charge and events include an altar building contest, art vendors, music, live poetry, workshops and more. Although Día de los Mertos sounds as though it may be sad, it is a celebration of the dead and many attendees paint there faces as sugar skulls and wear bright colors.
13th Floor Haunted House
If you’re looking to scream, and maybe cry a few tears, head over to 1203 E. Commerce St. and enter the doors of the 13th Floor Haunted House. With monsters and ghouls following you as soon as you walk through the gate and the sounds of a chainsaw revving in the background, your adrenaline is sure to go up. Not only is the 13th Floor Haunted House created to be frightening, but it’s actually rumored to be haunted. Yes, employees and customers alike have witnessed a young girl in the basement, one who does not exist. If you’re going to choose a time to shut your eyes, we suggest doing it while in the basement!
