In the heart of San Antonio, the awe-inspiring video art projection The Saga has brought the city’s rich history to life for the past decade. Projected onto the iconic San Fernando Cathedral—the oldest continuously operating cathedral in the U.S.—The Saga spans 7,000 square feet of light, color, and intricate narration.
The 24-minute presentation, designed by renowned international artist Xavier de Richemont, brings to life the region’s deep connections to the land, water, people, and battles that have shaped San Antonio. Xavier de Richemont, known for his masterful use of light and storytelling, designed The Saga to educate, entertain, and spark a deeper appreciation for San Antonio’s epic past. His work transforms the cathedral’s façade into a living canvas.
Presented by the Main Plaza Conservancy, a non-profit dedicated to maintaining the historic square as a vibrant public space, The Saga is free and open to the public. It runs Tuesday through Sunday at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
To keep The Saga and other public programs thriving, the Main Plaza Conservancy encourages donations. Contributions help preserve this historic gathering space and ensure it remains a beautiful, safe environment for future generations.
Experience the wonder of The Saga yourself and immerse in San Antonio’s history with every illuminated moment. Learn more about the history of Main Plaza and how to support the conservancy at mainplaza.org.
