This week we devoured Extra Fine, a new, downtown neighborhood bakery by Jessica Philpot. The colorful yet minimalistic cafe was overflowing with positive vibes, which is quite difficult to do in the current state of the world. The customer service was also excellent! and the food did not disappoint.
Before you enter the bakery, located at 138 E Mistletoe Ave, you’ll be greeted with a gorgeous, green herb garden by Mother Flower Design. The beautiful florals continue once you enter, as bouquets decorate the multiple shelves aligning the right wall. The first shelf houses syrups for your latte — lavender, citrus, or hibiscus. If you look closely, you can spot a dinosaur, and if you really, really look, you can spot two. Make sure to check out our reel here!
Now to the comida! 😛 First on our list of favorites — the roasted cauliflower soup! The extra mushroom sandwich was delicious as well as the summer parfait with housemade yogurt, fresh + roasted Texas peaches, blueberries, cashew-flaxseed granola, and peach molasses.
All pastries are homemade and our favorites included the cinnamon roll + Thai tea bun, but there are so many more decadent desserts we must try!
Extra Fine’s menu varies by the season and all ingredients are fresh and local. You can even pick up fresh bread!
Extra Fine is brought to you by the Empty Stomach Restaurant Group, the restaurant group behind Barbaro, Hot Joy, Rumble, Paper Tiger, Midnight Swim + Little Death. The bakery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
