Jorge Duque Velez took the stage on Tuesday evening to showcase his amazing DUQUEVELEZ Spring/Summer 2016 line. Jacqueline and I are thrilled to have behind the scene access before the runway shows as well as front row seats when the models began their catwalk. While many looks stood out during the DUQUEVELEZ show, a few truly took our breath away.
I’ve always imagined mayhem behind the curtain of a runway show for that is what the media has led me to believe, but as I sat amongst the models, designers and Fashion Week San Antonio staff, they seemed quite put together. The shoes were aligned nicely towards the end of the door while all the outfits hung nearby with names of all the models on the hangers. There was a bit of shuffle before the show began, but overall, I felt only calm, motivated and positive vibes. Who says San Antonio can’t put together a fashion show?
DUQUEVELEZ featured bright colored dresses, statement jackets, dark tailored suits, floral printed gowns and risqué, see-through ensembles.
When this on point, white outfit with colorful accents in all the right places took the stage, everyone pulled out their cameras. The statement jacket combined with the unique skirt caused everyone to do a double take. This was on my list of favorite outfits for the DUQUEVELEZ show. While we may not be able to wear the skirt in daylight, the jacket can be paired with a simplistic dress and immediately transform the outfit into pure glamour.
Jorge Duque Velez created his brand DUQUEVELEZ in 2002. In 2010, Jorge was the undisputed winner of Project Runway Latin America in its first edition.
