Nestled away in the trees of Waller, Texas you’ll find a getaway I already miss, and I just returned 30 minutes ago.
Getaway, which features multiple properties across Texas + beyond, consists of miniature cabins housing a large bed, small kitchenette, bathroom, and shower. Multiple cabins are shared across the large campsite, but all cabins are sparsely scattered across the forest (at least 50′ to 150′), making it extremely difficult to see your neighbor. Outside the cabin, you’ll find a picnic table, two wooden chairs, and a firepit.
While you could easily spend the entire day outdoors – especially if you visit during late November (Texas fall) – you won’t want to. My main draw to book the Getaway cabin was the floor to ceiling window behind the bed. And it’s just as comfortable as you imagine.
Every cabin has been perfectly situated in nature (which can’t be too hard, the forest is grand!) so every traveler is provided with a serene and private piece forest that you can view from the comfort of your very large and unbelievably comfortable bed.
I truly do want to return although I’ve just returned! Two nights was not enough. Please do yourself a favor and book at least three nights!
All right, I shall compose myself. Each dog-friendly cabin features:
- a comfy queen-sized bed or queen bunks with fresh linens
- a bathroom with a hot shower and toilet
- heat + air conditioning
- a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, two-burner stove, dishware, and cookware (kettle, pot, pan, mugs, cups, plate, bowls, silverware, cooking utensils, lighters, firewood (for an additional cost))
- a mini library
- an outdoor fire pit with grilling grate + outdoor seating
- a cell phone lock box so you can tuck your phone away and enjoy undistracted time in nature
Getaway is now one of my favorite travel locations. This time I visited the location near Houston, but I plan to visit the newest Hill Country location very soon. Believe me, I won’t last too long before I return.
