Les Locke, the Head Brewer of Southerleigh, teamed up with Freetail Brewing Co. this past Sunday for a Health Awareness Beer Tasting Event. All proceeds went to the San Antonio Make-a-Wish Foundation. Recently, Locke overcame his experience with cancer and wanted to celebrate by joining forces with local breweries around town and help raise up to $5,000 to help grant a child’s wish.
The event was held at the Freetail Brewing Co.’s Tasting Room. The room offers picnic tables, two standing bars, and even some board and card games to play with amongst your group. The setting was busy, edgy, yet relaxed. My knowledge on beer is slim, so I asked the bartender what her favorite brew was. She served me Freetails own Nocturnal Nectar, which tastes as good as it sounds!
Outside, Rickshaw Stop Food Truck were serving up kebabs and samosas. I chose “The Loner” with a beef kebab wrap which included two samosas (deep fried crispy goodness stuffed with your choice of seasoned ground beef, seasoned ground chicken or potato filling). I went with one chicken and one potato filling to experience each flavor. Along with some sweet and sour tamarind sauce, the samosas were crunchy, warm, and flavorful.
