During the holiday season that doesn’t feel anything like the holidays, the bright, colorful lights cascading down from the Cypress trees along the Riverwalk downtown was quite the beautiful sight.
This past weekend, I stayed at the Marriott Rivercenter and was able to enjoy the gorgeous lights in person and feel some of that wonderous, holiday joy.
Like many hotels, the Marriott has implemented an array of new protocols and elevated practices in response to COVID. While I would have loved to lounge in their modern, renovated lobby, I would only come down for quick glances and to pick up some coffee from Cafe Bocadillo onsite.
However, the Marriott was still enjoyable during this post-COVID age. The large balcony and adjoining suite were unbelievably comfortable and I could see all of downtown as well as the Rivercenter Mall and Riverwalk when I looked down. It’s difficult to become bored of such a sight.
I also had the opportunity to dine at Tributary and I cannot wait to return.
Tributary features many talented, local chefs as well as a farm-to-table philosophy. The restaurant even picks fresh herbs from a garden on the fourth floor of the hotel!
With a Rio Grande Mocktail Refresher in hand, I devoured the brussels sprouts with red curry ranch and salt + pepper shrimp. I highly recommend trying these two dishes!
Dinner was followed by a walk along the River, gazing upon the new holiday lights above. The breeze was peaceful and the river was brightened even more with the Rio boats floating past.
The Marriott Rivercenter is currently offering a Holiday Lights and the Cruise the River Package which includes:
- Two Rio San Antonio Boat tickets
- Complimentary breakfast for two
- 50% off self-parking ($20 value)
