As I pulled up to Mokara Hotel + Spa, located at 212 West Crockett, I was surprised to see the River Walk right across the street near the infamous clock tower/elevator. Mokara was in the center of the city! I could hear the hustle + bustle on the River but as soon as I walked inside I was met with the sweet sounds of soft jazz and cool air.

mokara-san-antonio-5The main entrance to Mokara is stunning and features a lounge area with fireplace and an array of books to get lost in. Along with cozy amenities, the Mokara has refreshing agua fresca available near the front desk.

mokara-san-antonio-4Once I had my key in hand, I headed straight to my room to check out my digs for the evening. Classical music met my ears ever so delicately as I set my belongings down. The Mokara team delivered a beautifully plated charcuterie board and wine shortly after arrival and I enjoyed cheese and crackers on the lounge chair parallel to the windows. While the view was divine and the beds very comfortable, my favorite part of the room was the XL bathtub with water jets! Bath salts and other bath amenities lay neatly on top of a towel as well. It’s all in those details!

mokara-san-antonio-3After getting acquainted with my room for the night, I grabbed my bathing suit and headed straight for the spa. Mokara’s 17,000 square-foot spa features 18 private treatment rooms and private men’s and women’s sanctuary lounges. As a hotel guest, I was able to enjoy the women’s sanctuary lounge free of charge. I spent time in the hot sauna in meditation pose. While I did find some serenity through the heat, I wasn’t in too long. After five minutes I felt the heat getting to me and stepped out to enjoy the heated whirlpool. I love how spacious the whirlpool is. I feel it’s important to give guests space – especially at the spa! Once my body was completely relaxed, I headed back the hot sauna for a few minutes before grabbing lunch in the women’s lounge area. Within 20 minutes I was comfortably snacking on ahi tuna tacos from Ostra downstairs.

mokara-san-antonioAlthough it was too cool that day for me to wade in Mokara’s rooftop pool, I did make a mental note to return during those hot Texas days. I look forward to sipping on a tropical mocktail while gazing out at the city skyline.

mokara-hotel-and-spaThat evening I dined along the River Walk at Mokara’s onsite restaurant, Ostra. I decided to enjoy my epic seafood meal outside and happily watched tourists and San Antonians alike walk along the banks of the river. When it came to dessert, I asked if I could have some sweet goodness sent up to my room and the Ostra team made it happen! While I was walking back into my room for the evening I was greeted with crème brûlée and a chocolate lover’s cake. 💕
