The era of feeding our body empty calories should be left in 2021. 🍃

A welcoming pink interior greets you at Southwest Elixirs, located in the Hays District at 125 Lamar St. The wellness cafe + elixir bar serves up superfood lattes, plant-based foods, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and bowls.

After finding a seat near the breeze, I realized I would have to frequent Southwest numerous times to try all of their mouthwatering concoctions! Let’s begin with some of their beautifully named, cold-pressed juices.

Sun Hands: carrot, pineapple, ginger, apple, lemon, turmeric + black pepper
Moonbeam: beet, apple, carrot, ginger, parsley, turmeric + black pepper
Verde: spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, parsley, lemon + jalapeno
Mood: watermelon, pineapple, lime + cayenne pepper

Next up, smoothies!

Mystic Mushroom: cacao, banana, date, pecan, Himalayan salt, rainbo-lion’s mane + oat mylk
Good Day: peanut butter, hemp seeds, maca, banana, coconut oil + oat mylk
Morning Glory: single-origin matcha, avocado, banana, spinach, ginger + oat mylk

The superfood lattes called my name that morning, specifically, Tera, made with cacao, cinnamon, date, vanilla, Himalayan salt, choice of mylk + cold brew. Other superfood lattes and teas on my list:

Pistachio Cold Brew: cold brew, pistachio milk, vanilla + agave served over ice
Iced Golden Mylk: single-origin turmeric, cinnamon, vanilla, maple syrup, pepper, Himalayan salt + oat milk
Iced Matcha Tropicana: single-origin matcha, cold-pressed pineapple juice, cold-pressed ginger juice, agave + your choice of plant-based mylk

All right, I know my order for next time! Pistachio cold brew and Southwest’s chickpea stack sandwich – a toasted gluten-free sandwich with seasoned chickpeas, cucumber, sliced avocado, red onion, cilantro, coriander, dill, red chili flakes, microgreens + lime. 👅

Southwest Elixirs is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
