Prove your humanity

Stepping into the elevator of a hotel causes my heart to race. The excitement and anticipation of entering my temporary new home takes over as I watch the small numbers escalate to my designated floor. Last Friday Jacqueline and I staycation-ed at one of our favorite downtown hotels – the Marriott Rivercenter.

Once we reached the 38th floor and walked into our suite, both Jacqueline and I put our suitcases in a little corner – a habit we do when walking into any hotel, cabin, tent – in order to take photos of the room before we begin ruffling the covers and throwing our laptops around.

The king bed was located at the end of the suite with views of downtown San Antonio at every window. I spent many minutes gazing out of each window especially at night when the city is dark and only headlamps light the streets. Next door to the king bed was a large bathroom with a sunken in tub and stand up shower. Oh and a bidet, which I did try and enjoy.

My favorite part of the room was the piano. Yes – a piano! When I was a young child in elementary school I attended piano lessons every weekend. Sadly as I grew older I decided I know longer wanted to practice this magnificent art but I am still drawn to the black and white keys whenever they are in my vicinity. I’d like to think that I serenaded Jacqueline that night with sweet tunes from Beauty and the Beast and Titanic.

After lounging for a couple hours, we headed back to the elevator and made our way down to the second floor to Sazo’s, Marriott’s onsite restaurant. You can read all about our Rebecca Creek Whiskey Dinner experience here.

In the AM we returned to Sazo’s for an amazing breakfast buffet complete with eggs cooked your way, sausage, cinnamon buns, fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, and other brunch favs.
