Thanksgiving came early for Twenty Something SA when the La Cantera Hill Country Resort invited us to a Thanksgiving menu preview that we couldn’t turn down. SweetFire Kitchen, the newest restaurant on the La Cantera Resort property, will feature a Thanksgiving buffet for all to enjoy. Along with traditional dishes, unique, country inspired dishes will grace the table on Thursday, November 26th as well.
When we entered the doors of SweetFire, the scent of the holidays filled the air. Hunger, warmth and excitement radiated off my body as the waiter served us a glass of Cabernet as we found our seat around the elongated, rectangular table decorated with mini pumpkins, colorful gourds and gorgeous white candles inside of glass cases.
Thanksgiving dinner was served family style, because how else would you enjoy your turkey and mashed potatoes? The menu was composed of classic favorites including a slow roasted turkey with numerous pots of gravy on the table, smoked prime rib, traditional stuffing, glazed yams, whipped potatoes (!), and green beans with mushrooms.
Other dishes included poached shrimp, a charcuterie board with amazing, homemade sour cream, a romaine salad with bacon, local cheddar and croutons, and a beet panzanella with feta and arugula. Ultimate favorites included the charcuterie board, the turkey, mashed potatoes and the sweet, glazed yams.
Dessert consisted of pumpkin pie and apple-cranberry tarts, as well as a Texas pecan and white chocolate bread pudding. We had a little bit of everything, but the pumpkin pie reigned supreme.
The SweetFire Thanksgiving Buffet will take place on Thanksgiving day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Indulge in the best buffet of the season for $65 per adult and $25 for children ages 5 through 12. Kids 4 and under are free to eat all the turkey they please!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Be on the lookout for more SweetFire holiday menus!
