Prove your humanity

Two Bros BBQ MarketThe 4th annual BBQ Week hit Texas this week recognizing various BBQ joints around the state including some of San Antonio’s own. Texas Monthly magazine has compiled a list of the 50 best BBQ joints in Texas, and I got to stop by Two Bros BBQ Market here in town, which holds a high place on the much desired list.

Two Bros BBQ MarketNestled in the corner off West Ave on the Northside of San Antonio lies a somewhat hidden BBQ gem that I personally hadn’t heard of until this week. Two Bros BBQ Market is now a place I will not forget. My entire experience felt very personal, like I was being welcomed into the Two Bros family and I haven’t even begun talking about the menu. Chopped beef, smoked turkey, pulled pork, sausage, beef brisket, cherry glazed baby back ribs and more. Including fixins: creamy cole slaw, BBQ beans, potato salad, creamed corn and mac & cheese. Don’t forget to save room for dessert of your choosing: ice cream, cobbler, deep fried strawberry pies, banana pudding…it’s paradise.

Two Bros BBQ MarketYou can order per pound, pint or a little of everything with Two Bros “grab and go BBQ packs” which can feed up to 24 hungry mouths if so desired. I decided to order a pulled pork sandwich with creamy coleslaw and mac & cheese for my sides because I will forever be 6 years old. The mac & cheese brought me back to eating at my grandmas with her homemade recipe, which only added to the incredible homey atmosphere Two Bros has created. Two Bros also offers a variety of sauces to step up your BBQ game. I chose a tangy BBQ sauce which matched great with my pulled pork sandwich and pickles.

Two Bros BBQ MarketBBQ is a sharing experience, and Two Bros sets a high standard for making you feel at right at home. Picnic tables fill the majority of seating inside and out. The entire outside area is shaded to keep you cool during the Texas summers. Their space is kid friendly, offering a playground for the little ones and even a bocce ball area for the adults. With live music on the weekends and open seven days a week, it’s hard to pass up this place for your next BBQ fix. I know I’m already planning my next visit.
