Prove your humanity

JWAS_StoreInterior“A juxtaposition between vintage and modern, reserved and unrestrained, traditional and innovative.” These are all words that describe the style of JOHNNY WAS, the newest store opening at the Shops at La Cantera on September 22, 2015. We talked with Frederique Meijer, JOHNNY WAS Web Marketing Manager, about why they chose San Antonio to open their 14th brick and mortar store.

Twenty Something SA: Why did you choose San Antonio to open JOHNNY WAS?
Frederique Meijer: Although our brand was born in Los Angeles and embodies the quintessential California bohemian lifestyle, we’ve enjoyed amazing success in Texas! Texas customers really respond to our unique tops and tunics and vibrant color palette. We opened our Austin store at the end of 2013 and quickly followed that up with stores in Houston and The Woodlands. San Antonio was a natural next step for us – it’s such a lively city that’s undergoing a major renaissance at the moment, and we’re excited to be a part of that!

20SA: Is there anything unique about the San Antonio store?
FM: Our San Antonio store will be located at the Shops at La Cantera, and we love the open-air feel of the center. All of our more recent stores have included a unique space for our Signature Silk Scarf collection to come to life called The Silk Lab, and the San Antonio store will have its own version!

20SA: What stores will JOHNNY WAS be near at the Shops at La Cantera?
FM: We’ll be located in the Nordstrom corridor near Kendra Scott, Everything But Water, and Bare Minerals to name a few. We’re excited and honored to be opening our fourth retail store in Texas! We love Texas, and Texas loves us!

20SA: Will there be a grand opening on the 22nd?
FM: Yes! Join us on September 22nd – we’ll have champagne, appetizers, and a few special promotions to celebrate opening day at rhe Shops at La Cantera!

On September 22, JOHNNY WAS will be gracing San Antonio with a new, fresh point of view on style. Since it’s first store opening in 1987, JOHNNY WAS looks to attract confident, free-spirited women, or pretty much all of the women in our city!
