Ah, 2016. What a year it was. For our foodie life, we had quite the adventure indulging in tasty meals across the Alamo City. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite dishes from this year. As you will see, I am one who leans towards “less is more” in regards to culinary creations – simple dishes that pack intense and complex flavors.
In no specific order, here are our top twenty-something dishes of 2016.
Honey-fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits with mashed potato tots from Sustenio
Pro tip: Add jelly to the buttermilk biscuits and make a sweet, sweet sandwich with the honey-fried chicken.
The Warrior Bowl* – grilled flank steak strips, roasted beet and potato salad, avocado and a soft boiled egg with mixed greens – from 5 Points Local

Mediterranean Bowl – quinoa, kale, tzatziki, green olives, falafel patties, cucumbers, tomato, carrots, dolmas, and pecan hummus, all served up in a whole wheat tortilla – from Green Vegetarian Cuisine

El Mecate Queso with chorizo* – a oaxaca and mozarella cheese mix with chorizo and poblano rajas – from Tacoart. Although Tacoart has closed its doors, this dish will forever be a favorite.
