Prove your humanity

The idea of a staycation has really caught on in recent years. While some people are world travelers, others like to stay closer to home. Even though embarking on adventures around the world is exciting, enriching, and fun, sometimes, you just want to explore while keeping everything low-key. Read on for interesting ideas you can incorporate into your at-home travels to curate the perfect staycation.

Visit a Family Fun Park

Spending a full day at a family fun park might be something you only consider doing when you are on vacation and away from home. You should rethink that notion. If you are lucky enough to have a family fun park nearby, you should book your tickets and get moving. There is so much to do at one of these great establishments. You can adventure on an indoor ropes course and zip-line, race your fellow travelers on the go-kart track, climb the walls (literally), play laser tag, or go mini bowling, among many other fun-filled activities. When you need a break, stop at the restaurant or bar and fill up before trying another activity.

Spend Time at Home Differently

No chores, rules (mostly), or responsibilities are allowed during a staycation. Of course, you will always clean up after yourselves, just as you would anywhere else you might stay, but when you are at home, the pressing feeling of guilt and responsibility looms large. When you are on a staycation, you need to be strong and fight the urge to clean or organize.

Even though you are at home, you can still enjoy yourself immensely. Think about all the things you may have done in your youth, like playing outside. Set up a ninja course between the trees in your backyard, or challenge your family members to a rousing game of cornhole. Another fun option you might not have thought of is to have a water balloon fight. You probably spent many hours doing this when you were a kid. Put on your bathing suits, sunscreen, and get ready for the laughter to ensue.

Catch a Game

You probably have a lot of opportunities to watch sporting events in your hometown. From the professionals to minor league teams and college teams, too, there is likely a game going on year-round. Check their schedules online, score some tickets, and then get ready for fun.

Whenever you attend a game, it is almost a requirement to partake in stadium food. There are cheesy nachos, hot dogs, cotton candy, and drinks. Pick up a team jersey or hat, and definitely buy a requisite foam finger. Get your picture taken with the team mascot and maybe even a few signatures from the players when the game is over.

Check out an iconic route near your home. Find a game or two to attend on a sunny afternoon. And then spend time at your home while relaxing and playing in the backyard. Embrace everything a staycation can offer you.
