Everyone has a favorite past time. Some like to hike, others cook or binge-watch Netflix. Shamelessly, I will admit I love to shop. As a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I’m always looking to expand my closet. But that’s easier said than done.
Urban Provisions TX is one of the newest women’s clothing and gift stores to join the Shops at Old Town Helotes district. Located near The Cracked Mug Coffee House, the boutique is tucked away from the bustle of 1604-San Antonio life at 14743 Old Bandera Road in Building 14.Alyssa and I visited the store after hours for a special Sip and Shop event. As if shopping wasn’t great enough already, right? Trying to not get distracted by the racks of instagram-worthy dresses and rompers, I made my way around to take pictures. Serving serious boho and vintage vibes, Urban Provisions TX is the manifestation of owner Sandy Rodriguez’s dreams. Rodriguez selects everything seen on the shelves, personally taking great care to showcase Texas artisans. Big-store quality in a cozy family-owned space, the shop features an array of Texas-made goods, from jewelry, candles and ceramic mugs. For as much as I go shopping, Urban Provision TX stood out as a great place to shop with out the fear of later running into someone wearing the exact same dress. After all, I can’t be the only one who worries about things like that.
Being the kind of person that whole-heartedly enjoys putting effort into my ensembles, finding the right items are hard—especially at the budget of a newly graduated 20something. Beyond reasonably priced, a bright-blue romper and a funny t-shirt caught my eye as Alyssa made a beeline to the fitting room with her own finds.
Although Urban Provisions TX is only about two months old, its inventory is constantly expanding. Rodriguez hopes to feature more home goods and men’s items in the future. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to see the latest arrivals first and stop by often! You can visit Urban Provisions TX in Helotes, Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
