VIA Expands Free WiFi to All Buses and Properties

Starting September 1, 2015, all VIA buses and transit centers will offer free 4G LTE WiFi. We joined VIA Metropolitan Transit at the steps of City Hall this morning to welcome the beginning of a new era to transportation in San Antonio.

VIA conducts 44 million passenger trips each year, with 41% of its users using smartphones. The move to connect these passengers aims to increase connectivity in their daily lives. San Antonians can stay connected to family, work and school while riding VIA. Congressman Ray Lopez said, “Your classroom can now start the second you step on the bus.”

VIA announced that they are proud to be the first major transit system to offer this type of service. And we are glad to see it happening right here in the city of San Antonio! Judge Nelson Wolff said San Antonio is making itself a city of the future! We can’t wait to see what is to come.
