AlyssaIf you follow us on Instagram then you know exactly where we were this weekend – staycation-ing at the Marriott Rivercenter! While we absolutely adored our awe-inspiring suite (be on the lookout for the hotel feature later this week!), the highlight of the night was the Rebecca Creek Whiskey Dinner at Sazo’s, the Marriott’s onsite restaurant.

Brightly colored flowers in repurposed Rebecca Creek bottles aligned every table at Sazo’s. Jacqueline and I took about forty photos of the first drink of the night, the Hill Country Lemonade, before taking our seats next to some of our favorite bloggers. With good company, a live acoustic set and a five-course dinner ahead of us, we were ready to start our culinary journey.

The first dish of the night was braised pork belly with red beet puree and toasted pecans. The melt-in-your-mouth dish paired perfectly with the second cocktail of the night – “Legacy” – composed of Cypress Cove Texas Whiskey, Solerno blood orange liqueur and vermouth rosso.

Next up was cedar smoked sea scallops paired with grilled Fredericksburg peach compote. Oh how we love Fredericksburg peaches! The light seafood dish was paired with the “Coalesce” cocktail made up of Texas Ranger 1823 Whiskey, basil, lime, sugar syrup and ginger beer. This was Jacqueline’s personal favorite. She may have had a few sips of mine as well.

The night ended with coffee (of course) and a baked butterscotch “1835 Bourbon” bread pudding complete with dark cherries, creme anglaise and tasted walnuts. I have to say the dessert was my favorite dish! Jacqueline also caught me with two bread puddings beside me by the end of the night.
