Francis Bogside, the modern Irish pub located in Southtown, is officially back open after a fire destroyed their kitchen in October 2016. A couple months before the fire Jacqueline and I had the most amazing brunch there and were quite devastated when we heard flames took them under. When we heard their doors were opening again with a new menu in place, we couldn’t wait to return to.

Even though I told myself I wasn’t going to order pizza, I ordered pizza – Butter the Nut pizza to be exact. The Butter the Nut pizza came with a thin base of butternut squash alfredo, smoked local mushrooms and proscuitto di parma. I enjoyed the nontraditional pizza but what I was really staring at was Jacqueline’s entree.

The colorful dish above is the Yardbird Curry – coconut masala, basmati rice, naan and paneer cheese. Ahhh, it was so good! Both of us were surprised to see a curry dish at an Irish pub but after one bite we knew it had to stay.

The interior of Francis Bogside has expanded (Brigid, Francis Bogside’s sister restaurant, is no longer in operation) and now features a stage for live music and the bar is now two sided with extra booths and tables for patrons.
